Enugu SME–AltSchool Honours Top Graduates with Laptop Grants, Extends Digital Skills Program Enrollment

In a bold display of its ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and digital transformation, the Enugu State Government, in collaboration with AltSchool Africa, has honoured the best-performing graduates of the Enugu SME–AltSchool Digital Skills Program with brand-new laptops — a symbolic reward for excellence, resilience, and future-readiness.

The recipients, who recently completed a rigorous six-month training in Full Stack Software Engineering, were celebrated for their exceptional performance in building real-world, globally relevant tech projects. The graduates also earned UK-accredited diplomas through the fully virtual program, receiving mentorship from top-tier industry experts.

The initiative, launched under the visionary leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, aligns with the administration’s ambitious human capital development strategy to create over 40,000 digital jobs annually and position Enugu as Nigeria’s leading hub for talent, innovation, and tech-driven enterprise.

“These laptops are not just gadgets — they are launchpads,” said a representative of the Enugu SME Centre. “Our goal is to show what’s possible when grit meets opportunity. With the right skills, tools, and mentorship, our youth can compete — and win — on the global stage.”

Following overwhelming interest in the program, the Enugu SME Centre has announced an extension of the enrollment deadline for the Enugu Digital Skills Grant (EDSG) to June 30, 2025. The initiative, which subsidizes the ₦435,000 AltSchool tuition fee by 50%, offers students two flexible payment options:
• ₦217,500 upfront, or
• ₦108,750 upfront with a 12-month, interest-free loan.

With only 54 scholarship slots remaining, aspiring software engineers, product designers, and tech enthusiasts are encouraged to apply via the program portal: www.enugusme.en.gov.ng/edsg.

The AltSchool program represents a cornerstone of Governor Mbah’s broader “Disruptive Innovation” agenda — equipping Enugu’s youth with 21st-century skills, attracting tech investment, and accelerating economic growth through digital empowerment.
