Suspected kidnappers kill young man, abduct his female companion in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the d3ath of a young man identified as Christopher who was shot by suspected kidnappers in Auchi.

 

 

 

The assailants attacked Christopher and took away his female companion.

 

 

 

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Monday, April 20, 2026 in the Igbira Camp area, near a fertilizer depot and close to a military checkpoint in the town.

 

 

 

According to eyewitnesses, the couple was riding home on a motorcycle when armed attackers, believed to be kidnappers, intercepted them.

 

 

 

During the assault, the victim reportedly tried to resist the kidnappers in an effort to save himself and his partner but was shot in the process.

 

 

 

The assailants then fled the scene with the woman, whose identity had not been confirmed at the time of this report.

 

 

 

The Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, who confirmed the incident on stated that eyewitnesses said the suspected kidnappers were in military uniforms.

 

 

 

“I am not saying they are soldiers but they said the people wore army camouflage. The young man was shot, and he was later rushed to a health facility but later confirmed d3ad,” she said.

 

 

 

“Efforts are in top gear to apprehend them and rescue the lady.”
