“There is definitely correlatiom between culture, lifestyle, and disease transmission”- Sheik Gumi says as he cites lower HIV rates in Muslim regions

Popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Gumi, has sparked a debate online after sharing his thoughts on a recent data showing a lesser occurrence of HIV in the Muslim states and countries.

In the data he posted on his Facebook page, Northern states like Katsina, Jigawa, Sokoto, Bauchi, and Yobe had the lowest number of HIV patients, while states like Akwa Ibom, Benue, Rivers, Anambra, and Enugu—which are predominantly Christian—had the highest numbers.”

Reacting to the post, Gumi insinuated that culture and lifestyle is a major factor in how diseases are being transmitted.
