Eight Missing Policemen Found Dead After Benue Attack, Death Toll Rises to 11

The lifeless bodies of eight policemen earlier declared missing following a deadly ambush on security operatives at Agu Centre, on the border between Katsina-Ala and Ukum Local Government Areas of Benue State, have been recovered.

 

Chairman of Katsina-Ala LGA, Dr. Justin Shaku, confirmed the development to reporters in Makurdi on Monday.

 

According to him, the discovery raises the death toll from the attack to 11 officers, 10 policemen and one member of the Benue State Community Protection Guards (BSCPG).

 

UGAMA TV reports that the incident occurred on Friday, when a team of security operatives came under heavy gunfire from armed invaders.

 

Three personnel were initially confirmed dead at the scene, while eight others were declared missing until their bodies were found.
