Tinubu, Fubara Hold First Meeting After Rivers State Emergency Ends

President Bola Tinubu on Monday evening held a closed-door meeting with Rivers State governor, Sir Sim Fubara, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Governor Fubara, clad in a crisp white caftan and black cap, arrived at the nation’s seat of power at about 6:20 p.m. his first encounter with the President since the lifting of his six-month suspension and the end of the state of emergency in Rivers on September 18, 2025.

In a March 18 nationwide broadcast, President Tinubu had declared a state of emergency in the oil-rich state, suspended democratic structures and appointed a sole administrator to oversee its affairs.

Fubara officially resumed duty last week following the restoration of normal governance.

As of press time, the specific agenda of Monday’s meeting had not been disclosed.
