EEDC Explains Blackout in Anambra, Oji River Following TCN Station Explosion

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has attributed the ongoing blackout in parts of its network to an early morning explosion at the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Station in Awada, Anambra State.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Group Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh, said the incident occurred at about 2:34 a.m., plunging the entire Anambra State and Oji River in Enugu State into darkness.

“As a result of this development, all our customers in the affected areas have been out of electricity supply,” Ezeh explained.

He assured that EEDC is in close contact with the TCN team working to restore power and appealed for patience from customers while the situation is being addressed.

“We understand the inconvenience this has caused and assure our customers of our continued commitment to providing improved services,” the statement added.
