As part of activities marking its 50th anniversary, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced plans to host a Regional Youth Conference aimed at addressing the socio-economic and political challenges facing young people in the sub-region.
According to a statement from the ECOWAS Directorate of Communication, the three-day event will take place from July 1 to July 3, 2025, in Saly Portudal, Senegal.
With the theme, “Engaging ECOWAS for a New Vision of Youth,” the conference will bring together youth leaders, organizations, policymakers, and development experts to share ideas and propose actionable solutions on critical issues such as employment, entrepreneurship, education, and vocational training.
“The conference will foster dialogue and collaboration between youth and ECOWAS, placing young people at the center of regional development and transformation efforts,” the statement read.
The initiative seeks to harmonize youth perspectives across West Africa and create joint, youth-driven solutions that will shape the region’s future and promote sustainable development.
ECOWAS reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young people and ensuring they play a key role in driving inclusive growth, innovation, and democratic governance across the region.
