A medical practitioner, Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, has died from complications shortly after delivering a set of triplets at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, NDUTH, Okolobiri, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Family sources confirmed that the deceased, who served as a registrar at NDUTH, initially responded to treatment after the successful delivery but later experienced a sudden deterioration in her condition.
She was subsequently moved to the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Yenagoa, for further management.
Despite intensive medical intervention, she was pronounced dead in the early hours of April 14, 2026.
In a statement released by Meshack N. Sintei, the family described her passing as devastating, noting that all efforts to save her life proved unsuccessful.
The statement explained that medical personnel at FMC Yenagoa made sustained attempts to stabilise her as her condition worsened, but she did not survive.
According to the family, continuous monitoring showed a progressive decline in her vital signs before she eventually passed away.
The late doctor was described as a committed healthcare professional, a wife, and a mother to her newborn triplets.
She was also a member of the Nigerian Medical Association and an alumna of the Niger Delta University.
Her death has triggered widespread grief among colleagues, friends, and members of the medical community, many of whom have described the loss as deeply tragic.
The family expressed gratitude to well-wishers, colleagues and supporters for their compassion and solidarity.
