Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer Peabo Bryson, whose powerful voice helped define some of Disney’s most beloved classics, has died at the age of 75.

His family confirmed that the acclaimed R&B star passed away peacefully on the evening of June 2, 2026. His death came days after reports emerged that he had been receiving medical treatment following a stroke.

In a statement, the family paid tribute to the singer’s remarkable legacy and the impact his music had on generations of fans around the world.

Born Robert Peapo Bryson on April 13, 1951, in Greenville, South Carolina, he began his music career in the 1970s and went on to become one of the most respected voices in R&B. Renowned for his smooth tenor and emotional delivery, Bryson built a career spanning more than five decades.

Among his most memorable solo hits were “Feel the Fire,” “I’m So Into You,” and “Can You Stop the Rain.” However, he achieved worldwide recognition through a series of successful duets, particularly his contributions to Disney soundtracks.

Bryson won his first Grammy Award for “Beauty and the Beast,” his iconic duet with Celine Dion for the 1991 animated film of the same name. He earned a second Grammy for “A Whole New World,” his chart-topping collaboration with Regina Belle from Disney’s Aladdin, which became an international hit and remains one of the most celebrated movie songs of all time.
