COMMISSIONER SAYS: MISSING HELICOPTERS, NO INVITATION FROM ASSEMBLY YET

The Lagos State Government has said its officials have yet to receive any summons from the House of Assembly on the state helicopters.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, stated this on Monday while responding to enquiries from our correspondent on the probe on the whereabouts of the three state-owned helicopters.

The Chief Whip of the House, Mrs Mojisola Meranda, had raised concerns on the whereabouts and condition of the helicopters.

She also urged the Assembly to summon concerned parties to explain what had become of the aircraft.

The Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, who pointed out that the helicopters were meant for security and commercial purposes, directed the Clerk, Mr Azeez Sanni, to write to all relevant offices to account for the procurement and maintenance of the three helicopters.

Among those summoned were the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Mr Tayo Ayinde; the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Sam Egube; Commissioner for Special Duties, Mr Tayo Bamgbose-Martins; and the management of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund.

But Omotosho said he was not aware of the invitation of any member of the executive.

He said, “I am not sure anybody has received any summons. Everybody read it in the newspapers just like you.”
