Children’s Day: Okolo Celebrates Awgu Children, Says “You Are Our Pride and Future,” Commends Mbah’s Smart Green Schools Initiative

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has felicitated children across Awgu LGA and beyond on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration, describing them as the pride, hope, and future of society.

In a goodwill message delivered through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Hon. Okolo emphasized the importance of nurturing children through quality education, sound moral upbringing, and continuous support to help them become responsible leaders of tomorrow.

According to the chairman, Children’s Day is more than a celebration of childhood innocence; it is a reminder of the immense potential children possess as future architects of society.

“Today is not just a celebration of your youth and innocence, but a profound reminder of the immense potential you hold as the architects of our future,” Hon. Okolo stated.

He described children as the heartbeat of every community, embodying hope, dreams, education, and aspirations, while urging parents, teachers, caregivers, and leaders to continue guiding them on the path of integrity, discipline, and excellence.

Hon. Okolo encouraged children in Awgu to remain focused on their education and personal development, stressing that dedication, hard work, and determination remain the foundation for achieving success in life.

“The future is bright, and it belongs to those who are willing to work hard and stay committed to their goals,” he added, urging the younger generation to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth.

The Awgu council boss also commended the administration of Dr. Peter Mbah for its transformative educational policies aimed at improving the future of children across Enugu State.

He particularly praised Governor Mbah’s Smart Green Schools initiative across the 260 political wards of the state, describing it as a revolutionary step toward equipping children with modern knowledge, digital skills, and global competitiveness.

“These schools are designed not just to provide knowledge but to empower our children with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in an ever-changing world,” Hon. Okolo affirmed.

The chairman further disclosed that Awgu Local Government has embarked on the construction and rehabilitation of access roads leading to Smart Green Schools within the council area to improve accessibility and create a more conducive learning environment for students.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to youth and educational development, Hon. Okolo assured that the council would continue implementing policies and projects that promote the welfare, growth, and success of children in Awgu.

He concluded by wishing all children a joyful and memorable Children’s Day celebration, reminding them that they remain the pride of the community and the future of a greater Awgu society.
