The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in Awgu LGA and beyond on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, calling for tolerance, sacrifice, unity, and prosperity among Nigerians.
In a goodwill message conveyed through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the council chairman described Eid-el-Kabir, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, as a sacred period for reflection, compassion, and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence.
Hon. Okolo noted that the celebration, which commemorates the unwavering faith and obedience of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), remains a powerful reminder of the virtues of sacrifice, generosity, and unity needed to build a stronger society.
According to him, Eid-el-Kabir is not only a moment of celebration for the Muslim faithful but also an opportunity for individuals and communities to extend love and support to the less privileged.
“Eid-El-Kabir is not only a time for joyous celebration but also an opportunity for reflection and gratitude. It encourages us to reach out to those in need, fostering a spirit of generosity and kindness within our communities,” the chairman stated.
He further urged residents of Awgu Local Government Area to embrace the teachings of the season by promoting peace, mutual respect, and harmonious coexistence irrespective of religious or ethnic differences.
The Awgu council boss also commended the leadership of Dr. Peter Mbah, describing the Enugu State Governor as a visionary and inclusive leader whose administration has transformed the state into a safe and attractive destination for investors and residents across all tribes and religions.
Hon. Okolo maintained that the visible strides recorded in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and other critical sectors under Governor Mbah’s administration are clear evidence of purposeful governance and commitment to the development of Enugu State.
He reiterated his administration’s dedication to promoting peace, unity, and religious harmony within Awgu Local Government Area, stressing that collective efforts remain essential in building a cohesive and progressive society.
As Muslims celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the chairman encouraged them to rejoice with gratitude and prayers for sustained peace, progress, and prosperity in Awgu, Enugu State, and Nigeria at large.
He concluded by wishing all residents of Awgu LGA a peaceful, blessed, and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
