Agbada Nenwe Upholds Tradition, Reaffirms Ike Nenwe Title for Humanitarian Service

AGBADA NENWE, Aninri LGA — The Agbada Nenwe Ancient Kingdom in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State has reaffirmed its rich cultural heritage and structured traditional governance with the formal recognition of Mr. Valentine Chigozie Nwoko as Ike Nenwe, describing him as worthy of the honour due to his outstanding selfless service to humanity and sustained philanthropic contributions to the community.

The reaffirmation was a major highlight of activities marking the 19th anniversary of the reign of His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. F. N. Imoh, the traditional ruler of the Agbada Nenwe Ancient Kingdom.

According to official community records, Nwoko is duly recognised within the Agbada Nenwe traditional hierarchy as Ike Nenwe, a prestigious title that symbolizes cultural authority, integrity, and responsibility. Community sources noted that the decision to reaffirm his title was informed not only by established tradition but also by his proven commitment to humanitarian service, philanthropy, and community development.

The records further indicate that his wife holds the revered women’s title of Ijele Ike Nenwe, a distinguished honour conferred in recognition of service, leadership, and cultural prominence within the kingdom.

The event underscored the continuity, legitimacy, and relevance of traditional governance in Agbada Nenwe, while emphasizing the importance of proper documentation and recognition of titleholders as custodians of the kingdom’s values and heritage.

Other traditional titleholders officially documented by the Agbada Nenwe Ancient Kingdom include Leonard Chidi Nwoye (Akubaruoha I of Nenwe), Innocent Onovo (Ifemenma I of Nenwe), Leonard Onuaguachia Nwoaugo (Okpata Ozuru Oha), Kenechukwu Emmanuel (Okenwa I of Nenwe), and Abl Chris Chukwu (Dikenaha of Nenwe).

Community leaders explained that the reaffirmation and documentation exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to preserve the kingdom’s cultural legacy, uphold merit-based recognition, and maintain clarity and order within its traditional leadership structure.

Agbada Nenwe Ancient Kingdom is located in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, and is widely respected for its enduring traditions, organised traditional institutions, and emphasis on service-driven leadership.
