You Can Eat Your Award’ — Lilian Afegbai Blasts AMVCA After Being Snubbed in Nominations

Nollywood actress Lilian Afegbai has criticised the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) for leaving her out of the nominations for the 2026 edition.

UGAMATV reports that the organisers recently announced the nominees for the 12th edition of the awards. However, Afegbai’s co-star in the series To Kill A Monkey, Bimbo Akintola, received a nomination for Best Lead Actress.

Reacting to the list, Afegbai expressed disappointment over the omission, arguing that her character, Idia, was one of the most talked-about roles in the popular series.

Despite her reaction, she stated that she does not depend on award nominations for validation and suggested that the organisers could keep the award. On her X (formerly Twitter) account, she said she believes everything happens for a reason and insisted that no character trended like Idia from To Kill A Monkey last year, praising the performance as outstanding.
