An unidentified woman has died after a fire engulfed a residential building along Ikpa Road in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to reports, the woman had accompanied a man she met at a nightclub earlier that night to his residence before the incident occurred.

The fire reportedly broke out around 5:30 a.m., destroying property worth millions of naira. While the male occupant escaped the building unharmed, the woman was trapped inside and died from severe burns.

The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, and authorities are expected to investigate the incident.
