Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the first Nigerian president to personally visit satellite towns within the FCT, describing it as a historic show of inclusion and concern for rural communities.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of the dualized and upgraded Ushafa to War College/Army Checkpoint Roads and other ancillary roads in Bwari Area Council. The project was commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented President Tinubu.
“This is the first time a sitting president would go to the satellite towns to identify with them,” Wike stated. “Mr President was personally in Kwali, today you have come here, and on Friday, you will be in Gwagwalada.”
The Minister also noted that just last week, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, on behalf of the President, commissioned the Kabusa-Ketti road—another unprecedented move showing the administration’s commitment to rural development.
Wike thanked President Tinubu for exceeding expectations in delivering projects to underserved communities: “When we wanted to start this, Mr President said we won’t just visit once, but multiple times, and by Friday, it will be the fourth time.”
He described the consistent outreach as a clear demonstration of the administration’s promise to treat rural areas with the same attention as Abuja city.
