Nigeria’s Super Falcons have commenced preparations for their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier against the Benin Republic, with eleven players currently in camp in Lomé, Togo.
The team opened camp on Monday at the Hotel Sarakawa in Lomé, ahead of the crucial first leg clash scheduled to take place on Friday at the Stade de Kégué.
Nine players participated in the opening training session, including star striker Asisat Oshoala, Folashade Ijamilusi, Taiwo Afolabi, and Miracle Usani. Others in attendance were Joy Omewa, Anderline Mgbechi, Blessing Illivieda, and Kafayat Mafisere.
The squad was later bolstered by the arrival of first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and midfielder Christy Ucheibe, bringing the total number of players in camp to eleven.
The Super Falcons are expected to be at full strength in the coming days as more players join the team ahead of Friday’s fixture.
The reverse leg of the qualifier will take place at the Moshood Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Nigeria, on Tuesday next week.
Nigeria will be looking to secure a strong result in the first leg as they aim to book their place at the 2026 WAFCON tournament and continue their dominance in African women’s football.
