Vigilantes arrest suspected robber during operation in Abia

Personnel of the Abia State Vigilante Service attached to the Umunkama Ngwa Road in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State, have arrested a suspected armed robber identified as Sunday Okoya.

It was gathered that Okoya was notorious for robbing his victims at gunpoint and he was arrested following a tip-off by residents about a robbery operation he allegedly led his gang members to carry out.

The Commander-General, Abia Vigilante Service, Mr Idika Mba, said his men received a distress call from some Aba residents, who informed them that a notorious gang was dispossessing residents of the Green Avenue Ngwa Road, Aba, of their possessions.

He added that the vigilantes were quickly detailed to the scene and on sighting them, two of the suspects fled the scene, while Okoya was arrested.
