VeryDarkMan Blasts President Tinubu’s Response to Benue Massacre, Joins Protest in Makurdi

Popular Nigerian social critic, VeryDarkMan, has strongly condemned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s response to the recent mass killing of over 200 people in Benue State.

The victims were reportedly burnt alive during a deadly herdsmen attack in Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area. The brutal incident has drawn widespread outrage both locally and internationally.

The first major reaction came from Pope Leo, who described the massacre as “terrible” and called for justice and accountability.

Following the Pope’s comments, President Tinubu issued a statement condemning the killings and urging the Benue State Government to initiate dialogue and reconciliation efforts with the attackers—an appeal that has since sparked fierce backlash.

Reacting to the President’s stance, VeryDarkMan questioned the rationale behind proposing peace talks with individuals he described as “barbaric.” He accused the Nigerian government and security forces of being aware of the attackers’ actions but failing to prevent them.

“From Tinubu’s press release, it’s obvious these herdsmen are not done with Benue,” he said. “Telling the governor to lead a dialogue with people burning others alive—doesn’t that tell you they’re even more powerful than the President?”

He expressed frustration that such a large-scale tragedy received little national attention until he visited the scene and posted a video that drew public reactions.

“The DG of DSS, IG of Police, Chief of Defense Staff—they all know what’s going on,” he said. “These killers arrived with jerry cans of fuel and AK-47s. How did they move freely without being noticed?”

VeryDarkMan urged Benue farmers to arm themselves legally, saying self-defense is now the only viable option left. “This is beyond what the government can handle. Benue people must protect themselves,” he stated.

On Sunday, he joined a protest organized by youths in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, demanding justice for the victims and greater action from the federal government.
