The 94th annual Academy Awards ceremony had several shocking moments including an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction of Venus Williams’ dress which led to the fabric slipping to reveal her nipple.

Will Smith mentioned the two tennis players when he gave his acceptance speech after receiving the Oscar for Best Actor for his role in the movie ‘King Richard‘.

At that moment, the cameras captured the Williams sisters, with fans taking to Twitter to post screenshots that show the nip slip.

Both Venus and Serena Williams were present at the gala which took place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, where they experienced the controversial incident that saw Will Smith slap host Chris Rock

.

The protagonist of King Richard took to the stage to slap Rock after the latter made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith’s hair despite her having spoken openly about having a hair loss condition.

Smith apologised during his acceptance speech to the Academy and the rest of the nominees for his reaction after Rock‘s remarks.

“I’m not crying for winning an award, it’s not about winning an award for me,” said Smith

“It’s about being able to shine light on all of the people. Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father just like they said about Mr. Williams. Love makes you do crazy things.

“I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologize to my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment. I hope the Academy invites me back.”

The famous actor also stressed on Twitter that he would hug the American comedian if the latter apologises to Smith personally for the joke.

King Richard is a biographical drama movie which follows the life of Richard Williams (played by Smith), the father and coach of tennis players Venus and Serena Williams.
