US Embassy Warns Nigerians: Visa Fraud Leads to Permanent Bans

The United States Embassy in Abuja has issued a stern warning to Nigerians on the serious consequences of visa fraud.

The Embassy issued this warning in a post on its verified X handle on Monday, emphasizing that falsifying information or submitting fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans.

“Visa fraud has serious consequences. Lying or providing fake documents can lead to permanent visa bans under US immigration law. This means you will never go,” it said.

The warning is said to have come when US Ambassador Richard Mills and Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar, had a meeting, where they both discussed areas of cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions are coming against the backdrop of the ongoing diplomatic attention on Nigeria’s internal security situation.

Recall that a few months ago, some US lawmakers described attacks on communities, especially in the North and Middle Belt, as serious violations of religious freedom.

The US Congress also called for stronger collaboration between the US and Nigerian governments to protect vulnerable populations.
