“A New Dawn for Awgu: Chairman Okolo Marks Workers’ Day, Declares May a Month of Renewed Hope, Bold Progress, and People-Centred Development”

As a new month begins with promise and renewed optimism, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has set a compelling tone for May, declaring it a defining period of blessings, expanded opportunities, and accelerated grassroots development.

In a stirring New Month message addressed to the people of Awgu, the Chairman—through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu—called on residents to embrace unity, diligence, peace, and mutual respect as the driving forces for sustainable transformation across communities.

Hon. Okolo reflected on the administration’s strides in recent months, attributing the progress recorded to divine grace and the steadfast support of Ndi Awgu. He emphasized that the journey toward development is a shared responsibility, strengthened by collective resolve and a common vision for growth.

The Chairman also paid glowing tribute to the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, applauding his bold leadership and sweeping infrastructural reforms. He noted that the Governor’s forward-thinking policies have repositioned Enugu as a vibrant destination for investment, innovation, and modern development.

According to him, the enabling environment created by the state government has empowered local administrations to deliver impactful, people-oriented projects with greater efficiency.

“Enugu is fast becoming a beacon of progress and opportunity. At the grassroots, we are mirroring this vision with deliberate actions that prioritize the needs and aspirations of our people. Awgu is firmly on the path of inclusive and sustainable development,” Okolo stated.

Looking ahead, the Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening development across critical sectors. He highlighted ongoing and upcoming initiatives in water supply, road infrastructure, security enhancement, education, healthcare delivery, and social welfare as key pillars of his governance agenda.

Flagship programmes such as the Awgu Water for All Initiative, strategic road networks linking Smart Green Schools, and strengthened community security frameworks, he assured, will be expanded to ensure that no part of Awgu is left behind in the march toward progress.

In the spirit of Workers’ Day, Hon. Okolo also celebrated the resilience and dedication of Awgu’s workforce, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving their welfare and creating an enabling environment for productivity and growth.

He concluded with a message of hope and confidence, wishing Ndi Awgu a peaceful, prosperous, and productive month, while expressing optimism that May will usher in deeper unity, sustained progress, good health, and shared prosperity.

For the Chairman, May is more than a new page on the calendar—it is a bold declaration of Awgu’s collective determination to rise, rebuild, and reach new heights together.
