Unity with Purpose: Enugu West Unity Forum Inaugurates LGA Executives, Reaffirms Support for Governor Mbah’s Re-Election Bid

On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Enugu West Unity Forum (EWUF), a non-partisan political support group, inaugurated its newly appointed local government area (LGA) executives in a grand ceremony held at the Awgu Local Government Headquarters. The event was graciously hosted by the Executive Chairman of Awgu LGA, Hon. Uchenna Okolo.

 

The inauguration marks a significant milestone for the Forum, which is committed to supporting visionary leaders in the political space. The group has, for several months, thrown its weight behind the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, declaring publicly that “there is no vacancy in the Lion Building come 2027.” Members have consistently praised Governor Mbah for his developmental strides across the state, including the establishment of smart schools in over 260 wards , massive infrastructural improvements, the renovation and revitalization of the Enugu International Conference Center, and the recent launch of Enugu Air, among other achievements.

 

 

The event commenced with an opening prayer by Pastor Paul Onwuka following the arrival and accreditation of delegates from the five LGAs that make up Enugu West Senatorial Zone – Aninri, Awgu, Oji River , Eziagu and Udi. Igwe Okeke Kingsley performed the traditional breaking of kola nut and declared the ceremony officially open.

 

 

In his welcome address, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Public Relations Officer of EWUF, reaffirmed that the Forum exists to support leaders who have proven themselves through performance and integrity. One such leader, whom we proudly stand behind, is His Excellency, Governor Petter Ndubuisi Mbah. In just two years of his administration, he has shown what is possible when leadership is visionary, focused, and people-oriented. From the transformation in infrastructure, to the innovation in education, to the bold reforms in governance, Governor Mbah is not just leading he is redefining what governance means in Enugu State.

He concluded with prayers for a safe return journey for all attendees.

 

Arc. Jake Udeh, President of the Enugu West Unity Forum, in his special remarks, charged the new executives to lead with humility, determination, and integrity. He emphasized their responsibility to propagate Governor Mbah’s developmental achievements at the grassroots level, encouraging unity and a shared quest for progress. He congratulated all newly inaugurated executives and wished them success in their roles.

 

 

The oath of office was administered by Barr. Ugochukwu Eze, Treasurer of EWUF, who urged the new executives to perform their duties diligently. The five inaugurated LGA coordinators are:

 

Comrade Godwin Kama – Coordinator, Aninri LGA

 

Comrade Paul Onwuka – Coordinator, Oji River LGA

 

Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu – Coordinator, Awgu LGA

 

Chief Mike Oguama  – Coordinator, Udi LGA

 

Hon. Emeka Udeh – Coordinator, Eziagu LGA

 

Igwe Ignatius Okpala who represented Igwe Godwin Ndubueze Madu, the chairman Enugu west, traditional rulers council in his charge to the inaugurated executives encouraged them to carry out their work effectively. He stated that the Igwes of Enugu West, are in agreement to support Governor Mbah, come 2027 election. “It’s is the turn of Enugu East, anyone from Enugu West or Enugu North thinking of coming out in 2027 as the Governor is wasting his time because there’s no vacancy in the Lion Building come 2027” Igwe Okpala said. He, went on to affirm and to remind the people of Enugu West that it will be their turn after Governor Mbah’s tenure.

 

 

Women’s Voice and Call to Service

 

In her vote of thanks, EWUF Woman Leader, Hon. Rita Chimaobi Ihemeje, encouraged the new executives to avoid eye service and be agents of peace. “Don’t be a problem shooter, be a peacemaker,” she advised. She reiterated the Forum’s core mission of ensuring Governor Mbah’s re-election in 2027 and praised the contributions of women to the Forum’s growth.

 

Nze Theo Onyebeke, Secretary General of EWUF, delivered the closing remarks, highlighted some of the developmental strides across Enugu State by Governor Mbah, commending the Governor’s simultaneously developments across all the wards in Enugu State such as, the smart schools, building of health centres, reconstruction of rural roads to mention only but few. He appreciated all attendees and urged them to continue supporting Governor Mbah’s re-election bid in 2027.

 

 

In an exclusive chat with UGAMA TV, President Arc. Jake Udeh urged the newly inaugurated leaders to spread the message of Governor Mbah’s impactful leadership, declaring, “Tomorrow is already here.”

 

Igwe Okeke Kingsley, in a separate interview, expressed joy over the unity and coordination exhibited by EWUF members and encouraged the new executives to align with the “moving train” that is transforming Enugu State.

 

Comrade Godwin Kama of Aninri LGA stated his full readiness to support Governor Mbah’s 2027 ambition, while Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, who now doubles as the PRO and Awgu LGA Coordinator, pledged to ensure that not a single vote for Governor Mbah would be missed in Awgu come 2027.

 

 

The event was graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Chairman of Enugu West Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe R.N. Orji (ably represented by Igwe Ignatius Okpala, Deputy Chairman of Oji River Traditional Rulers Council), Igwe Kingsley Okeke, Onah Uchechukwu (EWUF Youth Leader), Awgu Women Leader, and many other royal fathers and community leaders.

 

Following the formalities, guests were treated to refreshments provided by Hon. Uchenna Okolo, after which the new executives and attendees visited the residence of President Arc. Jake Udeh for a grand reception.

 

 

The inauguration of the Enugu West Unity Forum’s LGA executives marks more than just a change in leadership, it signals a renewed commitment to unity, grassroots mobilization, and continuity of good governance in Enugu State. With strong backing from traditional institutions, political leaders, and committed citizens, the Forum has positioned itself as a formidable force in the 2027 political landscape. As the newly inaugurated coordinators settle into their roles, the message is clear: Enugu West stands united in support of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and the progressive vision he represents. The journey toward “Tomorrow is Here” continues, with even greater zeal.
