Amid rising global security concerns, the United States Mission in Nigeria has issued a warning to American citizens, advising them to avoid unnecessary travel to Nigerian military and government facilities, particularly in Abuja.
In a statement released on Monday, the U.S. Mission also prohibited embassy staff and their families from visiting such locations unless for official purposes.
The advisory urged Americans in Nigeria to remain vigilant in public spaces, especially in areas frequented by Westerners, expatriates, and government officials. Citizens were also advised to avoid large gatherings, reduce non-essential movement, and remain alert to potential threats.
“Due to increased security concerns arising from current global developments,” the statement read, “U.S. citizens should stay alert, avoid predictable routines, and review their personal security plans.”
