President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to returning Nigerian youths to mechanized farming, promising to make agriculture more attractive and rewarding.
Speaking on Monday during the launch of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme in Abuja, Tinubu said the initiative marks the beginning of his promise to turn Nigeria into a global agricultural powerhouse.
“We have over 2,000 advanced tractors, 50 industrial-grade bulldozers, 12 mobile workshops, and more than 9,000 specialised farming tools,” he announced. “This equipment will boost mechanization, create jobs, and make farming easy—and even sexy—for our young people.”
He criticized outdated methods, saying: “You don’t have to use 18th-century methods in the 21st century.”
Tinubu also revealed that the federal government is collaborating with international partners to equip youths with skills in modern agricultural practices, enabling them to become financially independent.
