South African music sensation Tyla is set to make history as the first African artist to host the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The announcement was made by the organisers on Thursday, alongside the full list of nominees for the 2025 edition of the show. The Grammy-winning star will take the stage as host when the event airs live on June 21 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.
In addition to her hosting duties, Tyla received two nominations: Favourite Global Music Star and Favourite Music Collaboration for her track “Show Me Love” featuring WizTheMc and bees & honey.
Leading the nominations for the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards are Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and Lady Gaga, each with four nominations. They are followed closely by Selena Gomez, Dwayne Johnson, Jelly Roll, and Jack Black, who earned three nods apiece.
Reacting to the news on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Tyla expressed her excitement, writing, “I’m really about to host the Kids’ Choice Awards.”
