The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has dismissed reports claiming that the ongoing Ministerial Press Briefing Sessions have been moved from Abuja to London.
Speaking at the eighth edition of the briefing held at the National Press Centre in Abuja, Idris said, “This is your answer to the insinuation that the press briefing session is relocating abroad. We have our responsibility first to the Nigerian nation.”
Also present were the Ministers of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Water Resources and Sanitation, Prof. Joseph Utsev; and Works, Senator David Umahi. Umahi echoed Idris’ statement, describing the relocation claim as false.
Idris went on to highlight positive developments in the economy, citing new data from the National Bureau of Statistics which reported a drop in headline inflation to 23.71% in April 2025, down from 24.23% in March. Month-on-month inflation also fell from 3.90% to 1.86%.
He noted that food inflation had eased due to targeted interventions, with prices of staples like maize, rice, beans, and yam flour declining.
While acknowledging that challenges remain, Idris stated, “These figures give us every reason to be hopeful,” and reaffirmed the Tinubu administration’s commitment to sustaining economic reforms and prioritizing people-centered policies.
He urged the media to report responsibly, adding that the government remains fully accountable to Nigerians.
