Tyla Clinches Best African Music Performance at 2026 Grammys, Beats Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr

South African star Tyla emerged victorious at the 2026 Grammy Awards, winning the Best African Music Performance category with her hit single “Push 2 Start.”

The award saw Tyla edge out strong competition from Nigerian heavyweights, including Davido and Omah Lay for “With You,” Burna Boy with “Love,” Ayra Starr and Wizkid for “Gimme Dat,” as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin with “Hope & Love.”

Introduced to spotlight the richness and global influence of African music, the category once again highlighted Nigeria’s dominance on the continent’s music scene, with three Nigerian acts making the final shortlist.

Tyla’s win further cements her rising global profile and underscores South Africa’s growing influence on the international music stage.
