Troops of the Nigerian military under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized at least 10 Boko Haram terrorists in a fierce gun battle during a clearance operation in the Lake Chad Basin region.
According to Major-General Markus Kangye, Director of Defence Media Operations, the joint mission, conducted by the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Hybrid Forces, and other security agencies, targeted terrorist enclaves between Rann and Gamboru Ngala along the Nigeria, Cameroon border.
The operation, based on credible intelligence, led to an intense firefight that resulted in the terrorists being overpowered. Troops recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds, which are currently undergoing technical analysis.
Kangye noted that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing terrorists and uncover more hideouts. He reaffirmed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria and its partners have intensified operations across the Lake Chad Basin and Northern Borno to completely eliminate remnants of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
