Tragedy in Zaria: Woman Accused of Killing 11-Year-Old Daughter Over Missing ₦100

A woman named Khadija has been accused of killing her 11-year-old daughter, Fadila, in the Tukur area of Zaria, Kaduna State.

The heartbreaking incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, shortly before the Maghrib prayer. According to eyewitnesses, Khadija allegedly struck her daughter with a pestle after accusing her of stealing ₦100 given to her during the Sallah celebration.

The incident has triggered outrage within the community, with many residents expressing shock and anger. Some locals even boycotted Fadila’s funeral, describing the act as a severe injustice.

“This isn’t the first time she has abused the girl,” a woman from the area said. “Whenever there’s an issue with her hawking, Khadija beats her like she’s not even her own child.”

Another resident added, “We refused to participate in her burial prayers because it felt like justice was ignored and people just moved on.”

Fadila’s father, Malam Mustapha Musa, said he was not present when the incident took place. “I returned home to find out what had happened. I don’t know the full details,” he told reporters.

Khadija, while admitting to beating her daughter, insisted it was not intentional. “Yes, I beat her, but I never meant to kill her. Only the children were at home with me at the time,” she claimed.

Following the incident, Fadila’s father transported her body to their hometown in Kano State for burial. “I’ve left it all to God,” he stated.

A local vigilante official mentioned that both parents were initially summoned for questioning, but the matter was handed over to the police upon their arrival.

As of now, the Kaduna State Police Command has not issued an official statement.
