Reno Omokri Breaks Silence Amid Allegations

Socio-political activist Reno Omokri has stated that his support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration is rooted in patriotism and not motivated by financial gain.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels TV on Wednesday, Omokri, who is widely known for criticizing opposition figures—especially Labour Party’s presidential candidate Peter Obi—rejected claims that he is being financially sponsored by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for his vocal endorsement of Tinubu’s policies.

He emphasized that his actions stem from a deep love for Nigeria, not personal benefits.

“Who was paying me between 2015 and 2023 when I was actively involved in issues concerning Nigeria?” Omokri questioned.

He added, “I’m doing this not just because I admire Tinubu, but out of my commitment to Nigeria.”

Citing a recent example, Omokri explained that he personally financed a trip to Lagos to counter misinformation about the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway. “I don’t live in Lagos, but I flew in using my own funds. I gathered journalists, engaged with ordinary Nigerians, and even purchased a drone myself to verify that the 30-kilometer stretch of the highway has indeed been completed,” he said.
