Torrential Rain Decimates Newly Built Kugbo Bus Terminal, Snarling Nyanya-Keffi Traffic

A torrential downpour on Tuesday threw traffic into chaos along the Nyanya–Keffi Expressway in Abuja after significant damage was recorded at the Kugbo Bus Terminal.

Parts of the recently constructed terminal were affected by the storm, with sections of the roofing torn apart and debris spilling onto the road, blocking the free flow of vehicles.

The development caused heavy congestion on the ever-busy route connecting the Federal Capital Territory with neighbouring Nasarawa State, leaving commuters stuck for several hours.

Eyewitnesses reported that a number of vehicles were hit by falling debris, as passersby and residents joined efforts to clear the road and reduce the gridlock.

The area around the Abuja Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre, managed by the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO), was identified as the worst-affected stretch of the highway.

As of the time of filing this report on Tuesday evening, traffic was still crawling, with motorists urged to proceed carefully when approaching the affected area.
