Tinubu Returns to Abuja After Eid-el-Kabir Break, High-Level Engagements in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday returned to Abuja after spending the Eid-el-Kabir holiday in Lagos, where he participated in a series of political, governmental and national engagements.

The President arrived aboard the Nigeria Air Force 1 aircraft at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 5:17 p.m.

He was received by several top government officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and other senior officials.

During the Sallah holiday, Tinubu hosted a number of prominent political leaders and groups who paid him the traditional Eid homage. Among them were Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Senate leadership led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and governors under the umbrella of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The President also received All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Oyo State, including the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, as well as APC candidates for the House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly.

As part of activities marking the 70th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review held at the Eko Atlantic City Waterfront on Monday. During the event, he commissioned three naval vessels — NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara — to strengthen the nation’s maritime security capabilities.

The President also held bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Benin, Romuald Wadagni, during the holiday period. The meeting focused on strengthening diplomatic relations, regional cooperation and economic ties between the two neighbouring countries.

Prior to the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, Tinubu participated in the All Progressives Congress primary elections held in Lagos, where candidates emerged for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The President was also endorsed as the APC’s presidential candidate for the 2027 election following the party’s nationwide primary exercise.
