Taraba Police Hunt Security Guard Over Alleged Abduction of Two-Year-Old for ₦5m Ransom

Security forces in Taraba State have launched an intensive manhunt for a security guard accused of abducting a two-year-old boy and demanding a ₦5 million ransom.

The incident was reported late on Sunday, September 21, 2025, by the child’s mother, Mrs. Ujuwan Okosun. She alleged that her guard, identified as Amos Kini, disappeared with her son, Ivan Okosun, and also took her mobile phone.

According to Mrs. Okosun, the suspect later used the stolen phone to call her husband, demanding a ₦5 million payment for the boy’s release.

Police detectives quickly visited the scene and arrested Aruna Dauda, said to be the guarantor of the suspect.

A security source told analyst Zagazola Makama that, “The command has intensified efforts to track down the suspect and rescue the child unhurt. Investigation is ongoing.”

The police have urged residents to remain vigilant and to provide security agencies with timely information to help curb criminal activities and ensure the safe return of the child.
