Suspected Ritualist Caught with Mutilated Body of 6-Year-Old Boy in Bayelsa

A suspected ritualist identified as Bobby was apprehended on Wednesday, June 19, in connection with the gruesome killing of a six-year-old boy in the Aritalin area of Ovom community, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

According to local sources, the suspect, who is said to be a member of the same Ovom community, was caught while allegedly attempting to flee the area with the mutilated remains of the child.

Residents became suspicious of Bobby’s movements around 8 p.m. and raised an alarm, leading to his interception by vigilant members of the community. Upon discovery of the boy’s body, tension flared, particularly among members of the Hausa community, prompting an attempt by some individuals to take justice into their own hands.

However, community elders swiftly intervened to prevent a mob attack and ensured the suspect was handed over to law enforcement authorities.

As of the time of filing this report, the Bayelsa State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
