Gunmen Attack TIV Community in Kogi, Leave One Dead, Two Injured

At least one person has been confirmed dead and two others injured following an armed attack on a TIV settlement in Ogwutu village, Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.

 

According to security sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, when unidentified gunmen stormed the community along Iyade Road. The assailants reportedly opened fire indiscriminately and set several houses ablaze, causing panic among residents.

 

The sources confirmed that a 35-year-old man identified as Yega Hosamo was shot and killed during the attack. Two women, Veronica Jacob Alakashe and Nguvelen Kaase, sustained gunshot wounds to the arm and lower body, respectively.

 

The injured victims were quickly taken to Ochala Memorial Clinic in Abejukolo for medical attention, while the body of the deceased was evacuated to the General Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.

 

An investigation has been launched to identify and apprehend the perpetrators of the‏ attack.
