South-East govs, elite can’t decide Igbo’s fate, IPOB replies Umahi

THE leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra has said governors of the South-East geopolitical zone and the elite in the region were too infinitesimal to decide the fate of the Igbo.

The group also noted that alleged plans by governors of the zone to launch counter-secessionist groups, was dead on arrival, claiming that the people had lost confidence in them.

The secessionist group reacted to the statement credited to the Chairman, South-East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, who said leaders of the zone was comfortable sticking with Nigeria than move to Biafra.

The governor had also said counter-secessionist groups would arise if IPOB did not stop killings in the zone.

But IPOB, in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, on Thursday lashed out at the governors.

The statement read, “We wish to remind South-East governors that their disgraceful plan of creating another group to checkmate IPOB is dead on arrival. The people have lost confidence in them and just as their imaginary Ebube Agu security outfit, no such faceless group can survive in the South-East.

“But we want to remind South-East governors and the Igbo political elite that they represent less than one percent of the Biafran population. The rest of over 99% of the people earnestly ask for Biafra, and the train has long left the station.

“It is unfortunate that the South-East governors are the ones contemplating to create anarchy in the region. Now, we can see the real sponsors of the festering insecurity in the region.

“The world is still in shock of that act where Nigerian police killed Nigerian DSS as unknown gunmen who are terrorising innocent citizens and tagged him as ESN and IPOB.”
