Gunmen attack Ebonyi community, kill two policemen, eight others

AT least, no fewer than 10 persons, including two policemen, were killed on Thursday when gunmen invaded Isu and Onicha-Igboeze communities, in the Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

While two policemen were reportedly killed in Isu, others were killed in Onicha Igboeze.

It was also said that two lawyers were also killed by the gunmen, during the attack.

The two lawyers, it was learnt, were in a vehicle when they ran into the gunmen who operated with a Lexus SUV.

The invaders were said to have killed the lawyers, burnt the SUV with which they operated and left the scene with the lawyers’ vehicle.

UGAMATV  reports that there have been killings in Onicha in the last three months by gunmen and suspected security agents.

Last month, a woman and daughter of a monarch in the area, Elizabeth Agwu, was killed by a stray bullet when policemen invaded the community to arrest a suspect.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Loveth Odah, confirmed the latest invasion, but however, said details of the incident were still sketchy.
