Awgu stood still in admiration and celebration on February 28 as Hon. Engr. Sir Peter I. Udeogu (KSM), fondly known as Nwa Bishop, marked his 60th birthday in a grand and spiritually uplifting ceremony that brought together family, friends, associates, and distinguished personalities from across Enugu State and beyond.
The milestone celebration commenced with a solemn Holy Mass at Holy Cross Parish, Awgu, where prayers of thanksgiving were offered for a life richly lived in service, integrity, and faith. The sacred atmosphere reflected the essence of the celebrant — a man widely recognized for his devotion to God and unwavering commitment to humanity.
Following the church service, guests moved to Igbovia, opposite the parish, where a grand reception unfolded in a vibrant display of joy, unity, and heartfelt tributes. The gathering was more than a birthday celebration; it was a tribute to six decades of purposeful leadership, philanthropy, and community development.
In an exclusive interview with Ugama TV, Hon. Udeogu expressed deep gratitude to God for the grace to witness the landmark age.
“I am thankful to God for His grace and mercy that has brought me this far. Sixty years is a moment to reflect, renew my commitment to service, and continue living a life guided by faith and perseverance,” he stated.
His wife, Lady Betty Peter-Udeogu, delivered an emotional reflection on their shared journey, describing the celebration as a testimony of triumph through faith.
