SGF Akume Raises Alarm Over Voice Cloning Scam

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has warned the public about a criminal scheme involving the cloning of his voice to defraud unsuspecting individuals.

According to a statement released on Thursday by his spokesperson, Yomi Odunuga, the fraudsters have been impersonating the SGF, using the cloned voice to promise federal government appointments in exchange for money.

“From information available to the office, the fraudsters cloned the voice of the SGF, using it to solicit money in return for federal appointments,” the statement revealed.

Akume also noted that the phone numbers of some high-profile Nigerians have similarly been cloned and used for fraudulent activities.

“They have also cloned the phone numbers of high-profile individuals to solicit funds from unsuspecting members of the public,” he added.

The SGF urged the public to be cautious and report any suspicious communication.
