The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has escalated its response to the controversial conduct of Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, at the Abuja airport.
Following the six-month flight ban already imposed on him, the NCAA has now petitioned the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, urging a full-scale criminal investigation.
NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu stated that K1’s attempt to block a moving ValueJet aircraft violated multiple provisions of Nigeria’s civil aviation regulations.
In its formal letter to the AGF and IGP, the NCAA called for “a comprehensive criminal investigation and the initiation of appropriate prosecution in accordance with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations (Nig. CARs) 2023 and all other relevant laws.”
Echoing the NCAA’s stance, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo described the musician’s behavior as unacceptable and called for appropriate sanctions.
UGAMA TV recalls that K1 De Ultimate caused a disruption at Abuja Airport when he reportedly blocked a ValueJet aircraft that was preparing to take off.
In a related move, two crew members of the flight have also been suspended for violating aviation safety procedures.
More details are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
