Senator Natasha Set to Resume as Six-Month Suspension Expires

Lawyer to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has confirmed that the Kogi lawmaker is set to resume her legislative duties as the Senate reconvenes on September 23 after its annual recess.

Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, told PUNCH that the expiration of her suspension clears the way for her return.

“Actually, she’s ready to resume her term. She’s in London. Everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption,” Giwa said.

Senator Natasha was suspended for six months following a brawl in the Senate chamber after her seat was relocated. She also accused the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of orchestrating her suspension.

Despite making two unsuccessful attempts to resume plenary during the suspension period, the Kogi Senator is now expected to rejoin her colleagues once sessions resume later this month.
