The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, momentarily broke protocol during a project inspection in Abuja after being warmly greeted by enthusiastic schoolchildren and their teachers.
The unexpected moment occurred as Wike toured the Gishiri Road and Interchange project site. Upon noticing the Minister, pupils and staff of Foursquare New Heights Academy, located in the Gishiri area, began cheering and waving from within their school compound.
Moved by their excitement, Wike walked over to interact with the children, shaking hands and taking photographs with them — a rare gesture during such official engagements.
Speaking to journalists shortly after, Wike expressed satisfaction with the public’s response to the ongoing development projects across the FCT.
> “We are happy. We are very, very happy that the people of Abuja are happy.
You can see the joy of the children, and they are all feeling the impact of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Since assuming office, Wike has focused heavily on infrastructure, including the construction of roads and bridges, as part of efforts to revive the Abuja Master Plan and support the Tinubu administration’s development agenda.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to begin commissioning some of the completed FCT projects starting June 10.
