Sanwo-Olu praises, names estate after late Ndubuisi Kanu

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described a former Lagos military administrator, late Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, as a man who laid the foundation for modern Lagos.

He equally named the state housing estate in Gbagada under construction after Kanu, who was also a leader of the National Democratic Coalition.

Kalu died on January 13, 2021 at the age of 78.

The governor, who spoke on Wednesday at the ‘Day of Tributes in honour of Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu,’ in Ikeja, said the gesture would demonstrate to others that “Lagos State will never forget her heroes.”

He said, “Admiral Kanu, in his service as military administrator of Lagos State between 1977 and 1978, was one of those who laid the foundation of modern Lagos; a foundation that his successors have been proud to inherit and build upon.”

He said Nigerians owe late Kanu and other NADECO members gratitude for their struggles for the entrenchment of democracy in Nigeria.
