Former senator representing Cross River Central, Sandy Onor, has formally declared his interest in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential race after purchasing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination form for ₦50 million and the Expression of Interest form for ₦1 million.
The nomination documents were presented to him at the party’s national secretariat by representatives of the National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature.
Speaking after obtaining the forms, Onor said his decision to join the presidential contest followed sustained calls and encouragement from party stakeholders across the country. He stressed that his ambition is driven by a desire to serve and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s future.
Onor also addressed the political dynamics within the PDP, noting that while Nyesom Wike remains a key figure in the party, his personal support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid would not deter him from pursuing his presidential aspiration under the PDP platform.
He maintained that if given the party’s ticket, he would contest boldly and independently, focused on offering leadership and a fresh direction for the country.
Meanwhile, the party leadership called on aggrieved members to close ranks and work together, assuring that the PDP remains open to all members seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 general election.
