
The Deputy Minority Leader House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu, has expressed his satisfaction in the quality of work being done in ongoing refurbishment of the runway of Akanu Ibiam international Airport Enugu.
On the 16th june, 2020,the reputable honorable made an inspectional tour to the Afore mentioned airport, as an Oversight function, in the company of his colleague and Chairman, house committee on Aviation, Rt. Hon Nnoli Nnaji, including, the Enugu state commissioner of works, Hon. Greg Nnaji.
Speaking to our correspondents after the inspection, Rt. Hon. Toby Okechukwu expressed his profound satisfaction on the
qualitative job being done at
the site, as he observed that
the turning pad has been
completed, the active runway
also, is 75% complete
leaving about 25% of the
total work, yet to be done.

He however, inferred some safety issues in the graduation between the active runway and the shoulders, which he affirmed, will be corrected soon.
Speaking on the challenges being encountered in the cause of this rehabilitation, he said, “we thought that the completion would have been earlier, but unfortunately,
they have a broken plant, also, the environmental and climatic issues such as inclemency of weather has posed serious delay to the delivery of the work.”
Hence, he expects that the contractors will keep up to speed and work at their optimum to give an accurate, efficient and timely delivery
