Recall, that the Aforementioned airport, has been non functional, due to the ongoing rehabilitation of its runway. However, during this inspection tour, Mr. Maboob said that the airport ought to have been opened in April, in readiness for the Easter festivities, but the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic led to the government’s injunction to sit at home, brought the construction to a halt. Continuing, he said that with the lockdown being relaxed, work has begun again in the airport and hopefully, in about six to eight weeks time, the airport should be reopened and fit for use.
