PSG take the final step to sign Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi‘s contract with Barcelona is coming to an end and Paris Saint-Germain are determined to sign him, and the French club have perhaps made the most striking move yet to secure the Argentine’s signature by signing Neymar to a new four-year contract in the French capital.

Messi and Neymar‘s relationship is a strong one, both on and off the pitch, and the rumour is that he would love to be reunited with the former Santos prodigy.

Marcelo Bechler, a renowned journalist, provided information to TNT Sports Brasil that everything has been agreed for Neymar to extend his contract at the Parc des Princes.

His new deal would see him extend his stay in France to June of 2026, and it could be confirmed as soon as this week.

Neymar attempted to return to the Camp Nou in the summer of 2019, however that proved unsuccessful, and he has since been convinced that the best move for him is to stay with the Parisian club.

“I’m very happy at PSG right now,” Neymar explained in January 2021 to Telefoot.

“Things have changed a lot, I want to continue next season in Paris and I hope Kylian Mbappe does as well. This is something that PSG fans also want.”

Neymar also confirmed that he hopes to play with Messi once again, and it appears as though PSG are working diligently to make that happen in the summer.

The first step was securing Neymar‘s future, that much is essentially done, and they can now use this to convince Messi that they are the right club for him, provided he does take the final step and leave Barcelona.
