Presidential Spokesman Refutes Claims of Tinubu’s Illness Following ICIR Investigation

The presidency on Sunday debunked a report by The International Centre for Investigative Reporting, ICIR, purporting that President Bola Tinubu is currently sick and in critical condition.

The ICIR had, in a recent publication, alleged that preparations were underway by President Tinubu’s medical team to fly him abroad for urgent medical attention.

Quoting Aso Rock sources, the report alleged that Tinubu had been bedridden for several days, resulting in his absence from key state functions.

According to the medium, all President Tinubu’s scheduled activities, including the Federal Executive Council Meeting, FEC, had been cancelled since the beginning of the week.

However, Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, who spoke with Daily Trust on Sunday night, dismissed the rumour of the president’s illness.

On why the president did not attend any public function since last week, Onanuga replied that the president could choose to work from home.

“There is nothing wrong with the president, he is okay. He can choose to work from home. He can choose to work from anywhere.

“I tell you nothing is wrong with the president,” the presidential spokesman told Daily Trust.
