PRESIDENT BUHARI DIRECTS NEMA, OTHERS TO PROVIDE RELIEF FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Friday, regretted the reports of flooding across the country and promised to ensure that relevant government agencies are well prepared to respond to such disasters.

Specifically, on the flood that ravaged communities in Jigawa State, the President directed the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant government agencies to assess the situation and provide the needed humanitarian supplies.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘President Buhari assures flood victims of federal support.’

The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has assured families impacted by flooding in several communities in Jigawa State of timely support from the Federal Government.

“Commiserating with families who lost loved ones, farmlands, means of livelihood and property in the ravaging floods in the state, the President directs the National Emergency Management Agency and other relevant government agencies to urgently assess the situation in the affected areas with a view to providing the needed humanitarian supplies.
